There is a huge increase in the amount of children and young people who gets involved in the occult. A lack of knowledge and experience with regards to the handling of victims of the occult can result in secondary trauma. The counselling process of victims of the occult entails supporting the person on a physical, emotional and spiritual healing journey. This is a long-term, intensive process and usually also implies the support of the rest of his family in order to ensure the complete recovery of the victim. Auksano often networks and supports the SAPS during investigations of alleged occult related crimes.
Auksano does prevention, early intervention and empowerment interventions with regards to substance abuse within the community as well as nationwide. This includes, amongst a variety of projects, our High Without Drugs (HWD) clubs at various schools in and around Bloemfontein.
Auksano has a full-time Youth Coordinator who established and supports eight of these HWD clubs. The purpose of these clubs is to provide creative alternatives to drug abuse. The club members are frequently taken on camps and receive ongoing training in leadership, club and project management as well as how to deal with substance abuse. There is also a strong focus on life skills training, such as team work, decision making and conflict resolution.
Auksano is also represented on and/or heading local action committees, such as the Heidedal Local Drug Action committee, Free State Substance Abuse Forum and Bloemfontein Schools Role players Forum. We support the community with regards to community projects in order to equip the community and to help prevent the problems associated with drug abuse.
Auksano provides counselling to any victim who has experienced trauma and has difficulty functioning in his day-to-day activities. This involves victims of situations such as ritual abuse, violent crimes, bullying, child trafficking and rapes. It was a privilege to be recently appointed as a member of the panel of specialists who coordinate the youth programme at Bloemcare Psychiatric Clinic. This appointment became necessary due to the increase in dysfunctional behaviour and occultic involvement of the youth.
